DS Interactive was founded by David W Smith, Chartered Accountant
and Entrepreneur in his bedroom in Clapham, London, UK in 1996.

DS Interactive is the specialist recruitment and media group within the
interactive entertainment and gaming sectors.

David Smith

The group is the brain child of David W. Smith, Chartered Accountant and
Entrepreneur who founded the first 3 companies in his bedroom in Clapham,
London, UK in 1996.

From his early days at Rugby School, where the game Rugby Football was
invented, made famous by Tom Brown’s Schooldays, and at Hull University
where he studied Business Economics. David has pursued a career in financial
management. Qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1993, David worked
in industry for 12 years, most recently as Director of Commercial Accounting
at the market leading UK food wholesaler, Booker Cash and Carry.

Inspired by the bright lights of the interactive entertainment industry
at the last April ECTS trade show at Olympia, London, and with his sister
Poppi, working in the industry at Gem Distribution, David launched both
Interactive Selection and an accounting consultancy to the unsuspecting
world in 1996. A breath of ‘professional’ air compared to the
small, existing players, the group has gone from strength to strength,
working closely both with companies like Microsoft, Sony and Sega and small
specialist game developers across the world.

The current group comprises, 9 limited companies and over 200 domain names,
supporting 8 recruitment and media businesses in the computer games, computer
hardware, computer software, internet, telecommunications, broadcast media,
entertainment, motion picture and films, animation, online media, wireless,
gambling and casinos, consumer and retail sectors.

The group is well positioned for future growth with substantial intellectual
property for further exploitation.
